How to Electrolize Water at Home

Electrolyzing water at home is a simple process that involves splitting water molecules into hydrogen and oxygen gas using electricity. To do this, you will need a power source, two electrodes (usually made of platinum or titanium), and a container of water with a small amount of electrolyte added (such as salt or baking soda).

Start by filling the container with water and adding the electrolyte. Connect the electrodes to the power source, making sure that they are not touching. Turn on the power source and you will start to see bubbles forming at the electrodes. The bubbles are hydrogen gas at the negative electrode and oxygen gas at the positive electrode.

Make sure to conduct this experiment in a well-ventilated area as hydrogen and oxygen gases are highly flammable. Once you have collected enough gas, you can use it for various applications, such as fuel for a hydrogen fuel cell or as a fun science experiment to demonstrate the principles of electrolysis.
